The Wild Flowers of Semiarid
plateau & Alpine Region
From central to west and north Tibet, at the
elevation of 3500~5200m, there are semiarid high mountains
or highlands which lack vegetation and growing seasons but
are decked with some pretty, deeply-coloured flowers. They
may have small vegetable bodies vs big flower organs; both
are showing the vitality and adaptability.
The major species of this region: Incarvillea younghusbandil,
red flowered; I lutea, yellow; Iris potaninii, yellow; Jasminum
stephanense, light red; J. officinale, white; Arenaria rhodantha,
red; A. forrestii, white; Androseace tapete, pink; Clematis
tenuifolia, orange.
