From 'Peacock Princess' to 'Tibetan Goddess'
After "Dynamic Yunnan", Yang Liping, a Bai nationality dancer known for her "Peacock Princess" seemed to have vanished from the general public for several years. Then all of a sudden, she emerged with another ecological Tibetan dance and song called "Tibetan Riddle" in 2007 summer.[Full text]
 
'Tibetan Riddle' strikes the audience
 
The fifth Beijing International Dance Festival kicked off on Nov.13 at Poly Theatre in Beijing. The festival opened with an inaugural performance of "Tibetan Riddle".It's the most recent work of the Yang Liping as the follow-up to her successful music and dance production "Dynamic Yunnan". The latter show enjoyed a long run at the Kunming Theatre and sold out other venues across China.[Full text]

Tibet, the ridge of the world, is also famously known as the "Ocean of Songs and Dances". The Tibetan people are good at singing and dancing. Nearly every Tibetan can sing and dance, like the old saying goes ^People who can talk can sing, and where there is crowd, there is dance. ̄ Tibetan dance and song are twins,impossible to be separated from each other. If they sing, they are sure to dance, and they dance while singing. They sing anytime for any event and dance at festivals, weddings, and gatherings as well as during their spare time. A history of over several thousand years has witnessed the development of many kinds of folk dances in Tibet, and we only take some common dances as examples. [Full text]
