On the morning of April 7, 2007, after daybreak in Golmud, the K917 train from Lanzhou to Lhasa pulled into the Golmud Railway Station on time. On the platform people bade farewell to a special delegation, and a smiling lady in a black coat boarded the train for Lhasa.

I'm impressed by Tibet fast development

"I came to Tibet once in 2001. This time the fast development in Tibet impresses me most," Tailand Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn said after her arrival. She arrived in Lhasa on the evening of April 7 via the Qinghai-Tibet Railway and looked around the Potala Palace, Lhalu wetland, Jokhang Temple, Barkor street, TAR Farming and Herding Academy Melch Cow Melioration and Breeding Experimentation Center and Lhasa Brewhouse.

the princess once visited Tibet in 2001 and wrote a biography Interview of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which contributes on better understanding between Thai and China's Tibetans.

Biography of Princess Sirindhorn

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was born on 2nd April 1955, the third child of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand.

In May 1998, she was conferred a Honorary degree of Doctor in Chinese Studies of Humane Letters by Thammasat University of Thailand. In 2000, she was awarded the Chinese Language and Culture Friendship Award. In 2001, she was awarded the Understanding and Friendship International Literature Award by Chinese Literature Foundation of Chinese Writers Association.[full text]
