The China-Nepal Friendship Mountaineering Expedition formed by professional mountaineers was set up to climb a nameless mountain for celebrating the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations establishment between China and Nepal.
About Sino-Nepal Mountaineering Expedition

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, a 20-member mountaineering expedition team, 10 from each country, have set off for an unnamed mountain located on the border of China and Nepal.The expedition starts on September 22 with the expected final journey on October 12, depending on the weather conditions.The unnamed mountain is 6,591-metre high and it will be named the China-Nepal Friendly Peak. Nepal boasts eight of the world's 14 highest mountains.Each country will send 10 professional climbers. [Full text]

History of Sino-Nepal Relations
The friendly exchanges between China and Nepal can be traced back over one thousand years. Eminent Chinese Monks, Faxian (Fahien) in ancient Jin Dynasty and Xuanzang (Huen Tsang) in Tang Dynasty, had ever traveled on a pilgramage to Lumbini south of Nepal to worship to the birthplace of Buddha Shakyamoni.
