According to the superintendent of Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences (ITPCAS), Yao Tandong, cooperating with other research institutes of other counties, ITPCAS will built up five observatories on Qinghai-Tibet plateau.

Those five observatories will locate in hinterland of Qinghai-Tibet plateau respectively in north, south, east, west and middle.

On the recent Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Research Seminar, experts held that due to the effort made by Chinese scientists, the research on Qinghai-Tibet plateau has made great progress. After those five observatories are built up, the research on Qinghai-Tibet plateau will be more systemic and abundant.
